Mason Jar Cups

Super simple!!! Use a drill to cut a hole in the top of the lid. Insert a rubber grommet that can be purchased on the hardware isle at your local home improvement store. Insert straw. DONE!!
The size of the hole should match the size of the rubber grommet. I used 5/16 of an inch and the straw fits perfectly!

The straws are SUPER cute!!! Where did you find those?
Hi Janelle
I found your blog through Mango Tree Mama. I LOVE this idea of mason jar sippy cups, as well as many of the things you've posted on your blog. The mantle kennel got my brain thinking again about how to creatively contain a litterbox... I had given up. Your blog is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
I searched all over my local Home Depot and couldn't find anything that resembled the rubber grommet you talk about. Can you give us a specific part name or where in the store you found it? (Plumbing, electrical, etc?)
Hi! I'm so glad I found this post from Pinterest. I saw some of these at a local boutique and since they were selling them at 1 1/2 times the cost of a dozen canning jars I decided I needed to make my own. It couldn't be easier, but when I went into Lowe's, the man helping me find the grommets told me he didn't recommend them because they weren't food grade. I wonder if you found any, or if these were fine? He said he just didn't KNOW if they were safe, not that they weren't. So I put it off and came home and did a search online for food safe grommets and came up with zip. So I'm thinking the ones for sale I've seen must be okay???? Thanks!
Instead of a grommet try using a bit of hot glue around the hole. When it is comfortable to touch mild it to fit in.
The rubber grommet is call an "O ring". I found them on an hardware aisle @ Lowes.
okay this might be a crazy question, did you drill the hole while the lid was on the jar?
